Professional auto electrical work एक sequence है: complaint receive करें, vehicle identify करें, inspect करें, circuit समझें, test करें, repair करें, verify करें और document करें। सीधे part replacement पर जाना time/money waste करता है और नए faults बना सकता है।
यह guide auto electrician practical skills को एक job workflow में जोड़ती है। साथ ही बताती है कि ordinary low-voltage work कब रोकना चाहिए क्योंकि SRS या hybrid/EV High Voltage (HV) systems specific training, tools और OEM procedure मांगते हैं।
ये practical skills competency-based work और assessment की तैयारी में मदद कर सकती हैं। Saudi Skill Test एक independent preparation resource है और Saudi government, Takamol या NSDC से संबद्ध नहीं है।
Critical safety boundary: यह guide unqualified worker को high-voltage battery pack खोलना, dismantle या service करना नहीं सिखाती। Orange HV cables, traction battery, inverter और electric drive units vehicle off होने के बाद भी hazardous हो सकते हैं। OEM isolation, verification, PPE और authorization follow करें।
Start with the Customer Complaint
“Electrical problem” बहुत vague है। पूछें:
- कौन function fail करता है?
- Permanent या intermittent?
- Cold/hot, rain या bumps पर?
- कौन warning message आता है?
- हाल में repair/accessory/battery work हुआ?
- Vehicle बाकी normal start/drive करता है?
Testing से पहले component replacement promise न करें। Complaint starting point है, diagnosis नहीं।
Vehicle Identification
Correct service information exact vehicle/configuration पर depend करती है। Record करें make/model/year/market spec, VIN जहाँ workflow में appropriate हो, engine/propulsion type, battery system, relevant options, mileage और aftermarket modifications।
Similar model का wiring diagram wrong pins/modules/safety logic दे सकता है।
Visual Inspection
Dismantling से पहले देखें:
- loose/corroded battery terminals;
- water intrusion;
- fuse-box damage;
- overheated connectors;
- harness rubbing/rodent damage;
- poor aftermarket splices;
- missing grounds;
- recently disturbed connectors;
- collision damage;
- SRS/HV warnings।
Visual clue useful है, लेकिन load-carrying ability electrically verify करें।
Battery Condition
Low system voltage slow crank, module resets, communication DTCs और warning lamps create कर सकती है। Advanced diagnosis से पहले battery connection/charge/condition check करें। Programming या long diagnostic session में OEM-required support charger use करें।
Unstable supply के साथ network failure diagnose न करें।
Check Relevant Fuse, Power and Ground
Inoperative load में correct circuit से check करें:
- fuse/protection;
- right key/command state में power;
- loaded ground path;
- relay/module output;
- connector condition।
Fuse visual good दिखे तो भी terminal contact poor हो सकता है। Ground clean दिखे तो भी resistance high हो सकती है।
Read the Wiring Diagram
Complete path mark करें: source, fuse, relay/switch, ECU/BCM control, load, ground, shared splices और network connections। फिर minimum tests से circuit को “known good” और “not yet proven” sections में divide करें।
Scan Vehicle When Appropriate
Module-controlled system में scan tool useful है। Clear करने से पहले evidence save करें। पूछें:
- Module switch input देख रहा है?
- Load command हो रहा है?
- DTC open/short condition बताती है?
- कई modules offline हैं?
- Immobilizer/interlock command रोक रहा है?
Code list को shopping list न बनाएं।
Test Before Replacing
Rule: Do not replace until the failed function is proven.
Suspected component के लिए जहाँ applicable हो verify करें:
- correct power;
- correct ground;
- correct command/input;
- wiring continuity/loaded path;
- no short to power/ground;
- output/response expected condition से mismatch;
- कोई mechanical/external cause नहीं।
ECU, BCM, alternator, starter जैसे expensive parts के लिए यह खास जरूरी है।
Repair Wiring and Connectors Correctly
Professional repair में correct conductor size/type, approved terminal/splice, correct crimp, seal restoration, strain relief, routing, clips, heat/water protection और correct terminal fit शामिल हैं।
Corrosion wire के अंदर travel कर गई हो तो affected section OEM guidance के अनुसार replace करें।
Retest
Repair complete तब है जब same fault condition में retest pass हो। सभी operating modes, loaded condition, intermittent harness movement, module sleep/wake या safe road-test जहाँ relevant हो repeat करें। New warning lamp, DTC या abnormal heat check करें।
Document Result
Job record में complaint, verified symptom, diagnostic evidence, root cause, repair, parts/terminals और final result लिखें।
“Changed relay” weak documentation है। “Starter relay coil command present; contact output intermittent under load; relay replaced; repeated start test passed” ज्यादा useful है।
SRS Awareness
Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) में airbags, pretensioners, impact sensors और control units हो सकते हैं। Pyrotechnic devices और stored energy hazardous हैं।
- Ordinary test light/resistance check squib circuits पर न करें जब तक OEM safe method न दे।
- Battery disconnect/wait-time procedure follow करें।
- Airbag/module handling और storage instructions follow करें।
- Connectors को casually probe न करें।
- Training/authorization न हो तो stop करें।
Hybrid and EV High-Voltage Awareness
Electrified vehicles में conventional low-voltage और high-voltage propulsion systems दोनों होते हैं। ये अलग work domains हैं। Orange cables commonly HV identify करती हैं, लेकिन documentation/warning labels follow करें।
HV hazards में electric shock, arc energy, stored energy, thermal event और automatic activation शामिल हैं।
Safety boundary for ordinary auto electricians
Low-voltage technician 12 V battery, low-voltage fuses या communication diagnosis कर सकता है जहाँ authorized हो। लेकिन अगर diagnosis HV connector खोलने, interlock defeat करने, traction battery access, insulation-resistance testing या exposed HV conductors पर काम मांगती है तो qualified HV procedure/technician की जरूरत है।
ISO 6469-3:2021 voltage-class-B propulsion circuits की electrical safety requirements देता है। ISO खुद note करता है कि यह maintenance/repair personnel के लिए complete safety manual नहीं है; OEM procedure और qualification जरूरी हैं। 2026 में अगली edition की committee draft मौजूद है, इसलिए old universal service method न सिखाएँ।
High-Voltage “Do Not Proceed” Triggers
Stop/escalate करें जब:
- HV/orange cabling या traction battery damage हो;
- collision damage HV area के पास हो;
- isolation fault indicated हो;
- HV interlock intrusive testing मांगता हो;
- required insulated PPE/tools/training उपलब्ध न हों;
- HV service disconnect/covers remove करना authorization से बाहर हो;
- water/fire/thermal damage battery area में हो।
Workshop Housekeeping
- Removed fasteners/connectors identify रखें।
- Open connectors dirt/fluid से protect करें।
- Test leads fans/belts/pedals से दूर route करें।
- Start-up से पहले engine bay से tools हटाएँ।
- Charger leads secure रखें।
- Harness clips/fuse covers restore करें।
- Damaged batteries/components approved channel से dispose करें।
- Work area dry/organized रखें।

Tool Selection and Control
Planned tests के अनुसार tools चुनें: multimeter, low-current clamp, suitable test light, battery tester, scan tool, back-probe adapters या OEM breakout leads। Safest tool वह है जो diagnostic question answer करे बिना circuit limit exceed किए।
Moving and Hot-Engine Hazards
Engine running में belts/pulleys, automatic fans, hot exhaust/cooling surfaces, vehicle movement और test leads rotating parts में फँसने का risk होता है। Vehicle secure करें और leads safely route करें।
Aftermarket Accessories
Alarm, tracker, lighting, audio और charger faults create कर सकते हैं अगर installation poor हो। Power/ground source, fuse protection, conductor size, factory splices और module sleep effect inspect करें। Accessory को automatically दोषी न मानें; evidence chain में शामिल करें।
Final Quality Check Before Vehicle Release
- Original complaint resolved हो।
- Wiring secured/sealed हो।
- Connector locks/fuse covers restore हों।
- Temporary jumpers/tools removed हों।
- Battery/grounds secure हों।
- Unexpected warning lamps न हों।
- Final diagnostic result record हो।
- कोई safety system disabled न छोड़ा हो।
“Works now” लेकिन loose harness या bypassed protection complete repair नहीं है।
