سعودی عرب میں Electrician Safety اور Practical Work Readiness

Electrical skill اور safe work behavior الگ نہیں ہیں۔ Technically correct connection بھی competent work نہیں اگر isolation خراب ہو، live exposure uncontrolled ہو، guards missing ہوں یا access unsafe ہو۔ Practical Electrician ہر task میں routine follow کرتا ہے: job سمجھیں، energy sources identify کریں، hazard control کریں، tools/PPE منتخب کریں، work perform کریں، result verify کریں، protection restore کریں اور abnormal condition document کریں۔

یہ guide electrician safety کو Saudi worksite routine میں تبدیل کرتی ہے۔ اس میں electrical hazards، Job Hazard Assessment، isolation اور Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)، de-energization proving، PPE، ladders/work at height، wet locations، outdoor heat، workstation discipline اور detailed readiness checklist شامل ہیں۔ Unauthorized live work یا ہر task کے لیے generic PPE category نہیں دی گئی؛ یہ site risk assessment اور approved procedure پر depend کرتی ہے۔

Main Electrical Hazards

Electric Shock

Arc Flash and Arc Blast

Electrical fault intense heat، light، pressure اور molten material release کر سکتا ہے۔ Distribution equipment، high fault-current locations اور switching/fault operations میں arc hazard اہم ہو سکتا ہے۔ Universal PPE level guess نہ کریں؛ site task/equipment risk assess کرے۔

Burns and Hot Surfaces

Overheated terminals، resistors، motor surfaces اور faulted equipment power remove ہونے کے بعد بھی hot رہ سکتے ہیں۔ Burn marks کو صرف صاف کر کے ignore نہ کریں؛ root fault diagnose کریں۔

Fire

Loose terminations، overload، damaged insulation، wrong protection اور poor temporary wiring fire شروع کر سکتے ہیں۔ Fire prevention correct installation اور protection پر depend کرتی ہے۔

Unexpected Movement

Motor، fan، pump، conveyor، automatic door اور HVAC equipment control signal واپس آتے ہی start ہو سکتے ہیں۔ Electrical isolation میں mechanical restart consequence بھی consider کریں۔

Job Hazard Assessment

Work سے پہلے identify کریں:

• involved equipment؛
• voltage/energy sources اور backfeeds؛
• capacitor, UPS, generator, solar/control supply؛
• exposed conductive parts؛
• wet/hot environment؛
• work at height؛
• nearby moving equipment؛
• public/other workers access؛

Isolation and LOTO

General safe-isolation concept:

Proving a Circuit Is De-Energized

Breaker open ہونا absence of voltage کا proof نہیں۔ Suitable tester اور approved method use کریں۔ Common prove–test–prove principle:

• known source پر tester prove؛
• target circuit required points پر test؛
• tester دوبارہ prove۔

اس سے failed tester/lead کی false dead indication کا risk کم ہوتا ہے۔ Correct test points identify کرنا بھی ضروری ہے؛ multi-source system میں صرف line-to-neutral test ہر hazard detect نہیں کرتا۔

PPE and Tools

PPE last line of defense ہے، isolation/engineering control کا replacement نہیں۔ Assessed task کے مطابق PPE میں eye/face protection، protective clothing، suitable gloves، footwear، hearing protection، helmet اور fall protection ہو سکتے ہیں۔

Tool controls:

• specified condition میں suitable insulated tools؛
• appropriate meter/test leads؛
• intact guards/handles؛
• no improvised probes؛
• manufacturer torque values کے لیے torque tools؛
• clean، dry، non-damaged tools۔

Internet chart سے اکیلے PPE select نہ کریں؛ site risk assessment اور requirements follow کریں۔

Ladders and Work at Height

Electrical work at height میں fall risk electrical risk کے ساتھ آتا ہے۔

Before climbing:

• ladder/platform inspect کریں؛
• task کے لیے correct access equipment استعمال کریں؛
• stable ground پر position کریں؛
• exposed electrical hazard سے procedure-required clearance maintain کریں؛
• overreach نہ کریں؛
• hands free رکھنے کے لیے tool belt/hoisting method جہاں appropriate؛
• نیچے area falling tools سے protect کریں؛
• required fall protection use کریں۔

Live parts کے قریب metal ladder additional hazard بنا سکتا ہے۔ Environment/procedure کے مطابق access equipment منتخب کریں۔

Wet Locations

Rain، washing، plumbing leak، condensate، wet floor اور outdoor enclosure water hazard بنا سکتے ہیں۔

Actions:

• uncontrolled energized-water contact ہو تو stop کریں؛
• affected circuits isolate کریں؛
• re-energization سے پہلے water source identify/control کریں؛
• enclosures, seals, entries inspect کریں؛
• required environmental protection والا equipment use کریں؛
• SBC 401/design protective measures verify کریں؛
• damaged component کو صرف dry کر کے unsafe service میں واپس نہ کریں۔

Energized distribution equipment کو household fan/heater سے “dry” نہ کریں۔

Heat and Outdoor Work in Saudi Arabia

Saudi electricians outdoor construction، roofs اور plant areas میں کام کر سکتے ہیں جہاں heat worker اور equipment دونوں پر اثر ڈالتی ہے۔

2026 کے لیے MHRSD اور NCOSH نے private-sector establishments میں midday work ban 15 June سے 15 September، 12:00 p.m. سے 3:00 p.m. نافذ کرنے کا اعلان کیا۔ اسے dated 2026 requirement سمجھیں اور future years میں current rule verify کریں۔
